I have been so busy creating and tweaking this current scanner that I forgot to write about it so you all know how it works. Roxy Ann Peak Scanner is a way to follow public safety radio activity around Jackson County from your phone or computer. Radio receivers and scanner software capture transmissions from local agencies as they happen, then each call is organized by agency and talk-group — such as law or fire dispatch. Just press play to listen, follow along as new calls come in.
Every call is also transcribed automatically using speech-recognition software, so you can read along while you listen or quickly scan what was said. The free player card offers an easy way to listen in, while members get the full scanner page, where they can pick their talk-groups, browse recent calls and call history, and read transcripts for each transmission. Transcription is computer-generated and can make mistakes with names, addresses, and radio terminology, so it should be treated as a listening aid rather than an exact record.
For officer and public safety, law enforcement traffic is released on a tactical delay rather than truly live. The scanner is intended for public awareness and hobby listening — not as an official record or a substitute for emergency information. Please listen responsibly, and never use anything you hear to approach, follow, or interfere with an active incident.
